Ras al Khaimah literally means “The top of the tent” is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

Ras Al Khaimah is in the northern part of the UAE bordering Oman. Previously affiliated with Sharjah, Ras al khaimah become separate sheikhdom under British protection in 1921.

After some hesitation, the sheikhdom joined the United Arab Emirates on 11th February 1972.
